5 ways to prevent blog burnout

20120131

1 \\ Sleep.
I read an article while traveling that said one of the main causes of depression is lack of sleep. As a friend of many freelance designers and full time bloggers I know for a fact that sleep is a privilege for all of us. Fact is nobody can function well without resting enough.

2 \\ Do something you like with someone you like.
Try your best to do something you like as least once a week. Get out of your office often, for lunch time, for snack time of just to spend some time with friends.

3 \\ Do not stay in for days.
Working on your blog or dwelling on it all the time will only make you feel dissatisfied with your work. I find it very important to unwind and work on other projects unrelated to my work. I stay away from lonely places because those make you lose your passion.

4 \\ Break The Routine.
I'm always up for an impromptu anything. If you feel knee deep in work chances are you can actually give yourself some time to breathe so do something unexpected and exciting.

5 \\ That's right...
Your readers understand you are human, or I would expect them to. Keep your blog real and your blog-friends updated, if you are feeling too blue to blog someone might come to your rescue and offer to guest-post to lighten your load but if you keep everything to yourself you might find that you are only giving 40% of the 100% you could be giving.

What do you do to prevent blog burnout? Care to share?
  1. I totally agree about the sleeping part. It's so important to have a good night sleep and I love 4th point. Changing up our routine is always fun with something different or exciting:) Have a lovely morming. xo

Love this post (and the beautiful image that goes with it)! The loneliness one really resonates with me. I am constantly making myself leave the apartment to go out and see people, try new things and explore because otherwise I'd go nuts and end up in the foetal position in my closet! ;) xx

  9. I think this is great advice in general. I always am the most creative and inspired when I step away from my work. though I do find it really hard to do, it works every time. And sleep is a great thing if you can get it:) I am new to blogging so I am loving all the good advice too.
