The Niche's Rules

The Niche's Rules
I’m constantly asked questions about Blogging etiquette and even though I’ve written posts about rules for blog creators and blog readers in the past, it still makes me a little apprehensive to give my take, because the answer to this will probably be very technical and sound very freedom-starved.
The reality is that just as in the real world we live in there are social rules to ensure that we not only exist but also co-exist, there are rules when it comes to blogging. There’s virtually no chance of making it in this online of world if we do not observe some things that might see as OK, but may be holding us back. The lines are blurry and it might be hard to understand things like, what bloggers consider self-promotion, how you should give credit, where the line is between inspiration and copying and so on...

Well, in my personal opinion it all begins when your start a blog and have the determination to develop it. You automatically become the candidate to small niches that are formed by people who have similar or the same views and interests as you do. These people will move you, will empower you and will definitely be part of what keeps you afloat. I believe this is why blogging conferences and gatherings exist, because to some level we all need the
support and the guidelines.

If you want to make sense of all this and because I really rather not go into listing a long line of blogging etiquette do's and dont's, I'd advice you to take a moment to think of what you'd consider to be right and wrong and apply that to the way you blog or interact with other bloggers. Be sociable, empathic and understanding of others so you can become an active part of your niche.  People you relate to will eventually recognize you and your
work and effortlessly promote and encourage you.

Being a new Blogger is far from easy, it's a time filled with anxiety as there’s a sea of people out there writing blogs and you do not know clearly where you stand or what to do, it feels like you can only strive and wish for the best.  In the worst times, remember that things take time, that things WILL come your way and that in order to get from point A to point B you’ll need to interact with other bloggers, work hard and push ahead fairly... Or at least that's
how it's been for me.

Please feel free to share, tell us what blogging etiquette rules you find key to succeed or ask questions.

  1. "Remember that things take time"... so true, Ana. Thanks for the reminder!

I think the blog world can be quite competitive but at the end of the day you just haveto clear your mind, get away from all the buzz and ask yourself who I am and who do I want to be as a blogger.

  2. Very nicely put Ana. I'm interested to know what you'd consider to be copying?

    1. Hi Lynn! First of all, thanks for joining. Copying for me is blatantly replicating a piece of art, collage... to a tee or using content to claim it as your own. Breanna wrote a beautiful post here about Inspiration vs Imitation, that might help expand. Have a lovely day! x
