Creative Souls

20140206

Creative Souls
Being creative is not a thing that’s exclusive to some of us. It's rather something we’re all equipped with and only some decide to develop.  I receive a lot of questions both on the blog and shop regarding creativity - and as always, I can only give my personal but honest opinion.

When I think of creative souls, I think of people who understand that whatever they’re aiming for and however high that is, that’s how hard they’re going to have to work for it. They believe the process can be as taxing and it can also be rewarding and they're the kind of people who would have doors slammed in their noses before putting out half-hearted work that they didn’t believe on or made them happy.

“Creativity takes courage.”
Henri Matisse

Creativity needs personal freedom, patience and the understanding that beauty is definitely in the eye of the beholder. We are not capable of pleasing everyone, each one of us has different views, styles, ways of expressing ourselves. It is the passion that you put into things what makes the difference.

What I’m trying to say is that if you decide today to take some time to create in a way that you didn’t think was possible, something will most definitely happen, simply because you will be empowering yourself and understanding that you are as capable and as creative as anyone else in this world and that effort will pay off somewhere down the road.

My personal advice is that you live fully, make sure that you set your focus on making things that excite you* first and foremost and that you never stop working with your own set of skills. Do not give up when you feel like you've hit a brick wall, see those blocks are a period of change and remain positive.

Be kind to yourself when it comes to judging your work, otherwise you will never find the courage to put it "out there". Let your work flow and develop your style organically by not only taking the Internet as the only source of your inspiration.

Keep in mind that comparison is truly a thief of joy. Immerse yourself in your work, do it with love and most importantly, have fun.
